Tag

I've been tagged by my dear friend Becky. And I love that it gives me an excuse to blog. I wish she'd always give me blogging topics.

The rules of the first game are:
1) Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2) Share 7 facts about yourself, some random, some weird.
3) Tag 7 more people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4) Let them know they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs.

  1. If I could change anything about myself, I would make myself more interesting. I am the most boring person I know. It's why I only blog about once a month, and even that is usually an update about Alaina.
  2. I make an incredible lasagna using a recipe from Kraft Foods. It uses cottage cheese instead of ricotta and is great with lots of garlic.
  3. I watch too much TV.
  4. I like to read books more than once. In fact, I like to read books more than twice. Whenever I go to the library I usually end up checking out at least one book I've read several times before.
  5. I can say the alphabet backwards REALLY fast. It's my stupid human trick.
  6. If I had to work at a fast food restaurant, I would work at Chic-Fil-A. Good chicken, friendly staff, and I wouldn't have to work on Sundays.
  7. I have horrible taste in clothes. I usually get whatever is cheapest for the simple fact that it's cheap. So I wear plain t-shirts most of the time, which don't hide spit-up very well. Luckily Alaina doesn't care what I wear, and I with her most of the time, so it works out.

I don't know 7 people who blog, but if I could tag anyone I'd tag Carolyn, Jamie and Sara. And Gisele.

It's Worth It

You know those days when your baby is just fussy as all get-out, and there isn't really anything you can do to help? She just wants to cry all day. She doesn't want to be in the swing, she doesn't want to lay in your lap and she REALLY doesn't want to lay down anywhere. Feeding is only a 20 minute break from all the crying. Well, we had two of those days in a row. Sunday and Monday. And then on Monday...she giggled! She was fussing and crying and laying on my lap and her paci dropped on the floor. So I kind of bent over her to get it, and then I heard it! So I bent over again, this time kissing her cheek. And she giggled again! A little bit later she went right back to her cranky, fussy self, but that giggle made it all worth it. I haven't gotten her to giggle again, but I know it's coming.

She's growing up so fast. Today we went to MOPS, and she spent the morning in the nursery for the first time. She did great. I went back to check on her once, and she was crying a little bit in the swing they had put her in, but she stuck her thumb in her mouth and went right to sleep. MOPS is going to be good for us. Maybe I'll make some friends, and she can get used to other people besides her mom and dad.

Things I Want To Do

Here are some things I want to do, but have yet to do:

Write every day - journal, blog, fiction, whatever. Writing is a muscle that has to be exercised, and I hate exercise. But I wish I would write something every day.

Floss every day - my hygenist and dear friend Shawnee would be so proud.

Try a Rachel Ray recipe - she uses the weirdest stuff. Why can't she come up with recipes for ground beef or chicken breasts? I don't think Lee is going to like ground turkey.

Teach my daughter to love the outdoors - I love the outdoors...from inside. "The fresh air and sunshine would be good for us," I think, as I curl up on the couch with a book.

Get into scrapbooking - I even have the stuff and TWO practically pre-made scrapbooks. I just have to add the pictures and words. Maybe I can incorporate this into my writing every day desire.

Clean out the closet in our office - a daunting task.

This self-motivation thing is hard.

But here's a cute pic to get us through the day:

2 Months Old

Alaina had her two-month check up last week. She passed with flying colors! She weighed in at 12 pounds and was 24 1/2 inches long. She's almost grown out of her 0-3 month clothes! She is also currently under chiropractic care for her neck. She looks to the right whenever possible, and the doctor thought some muscles might have been sprained during birth. The chiropractor agreed, and now we have some teeny tiny stretches we have to do to go along with his teeny tiny adjustments.

Oh, and remember how she wasn't too interested in her bouncy seat? That's changing too. Right now she just flails and hits the turtle, but I think she'll be grabbing it soon enough.

New and Cute This Week

Alaina is starting to coo...at herself. I have a mirror in her crib and she likes to stare at herself and smile. The cooing started today. Please ignore the drool by her face.

And this picture is just cute.

Meet the Family

Alaina had a big week last week. She met her Aunt Carolyn, who flew down from Canada to see her. She met her Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa, who drove out from Missouri to see her. She also met a bunch of aunts and uncles on her Granddad Marsh's side, but she doesn't really remember it because she slept through the family bbq. She was a trooper as she was passed around. I think she actually liked it.

In other news, she's starting to smile for real...on purpose. Aunt Carolyn managed to catch this one, although her best smiles come at 4:00 in the morning when I'm changing her diaper.

Alaina and Cheeto

Cheeto loves Alaina. He really does. He often tries to sit on my lap when Alaina is eating. It works for a few minutes until I have to sit her up to burp. He'll also headbutt her while she's eating, which is like a kitty high-five. He'll check on her when she's sitting in her infant carrier. (He's either checking on her or looking for her paci, which he likes to play with. He is NOT allowed to do that.) And when she's crying in her bed, he'll sit in her room until I come in to get her. I wonder if he'll love her as much when she's old enough to pull his tail.

Committed to Blogging

I now have a one-month-old baby, family all over the country, and no job to give me an excuse. It's time to start blogging. Besides, I need to share the hilarities of raising a baby. Right now she doesn't do much, aside from the explosive bowel movements. But soon I expect lots of life from her, and I'd love to share it. :)

She's not too impressed with her bouncy seat yet.

And she doesn't sit still for pictures. We'll work on that.
