Because I can't get enough sleeping pictures.

Quick Alaina Cuties

Alaina has a new game: try on Mommy's shoes.  She goes into my closet and digs the shoes out that I haven't worn in a long time...heels, flats, crocs.  She shuffles around the house in them.  Yet another thing you don't have to teach a little girl to do.

********

At lunch, this came out of Alaina's mouth:

"Fluffy puppies are SOO cute.
Baby Naomi is SOO cute.
Apple Ben is...big and strong."

********

Alaina has named one of her stuffed bears.  I've been waiting for this day.  I walked in her room after her nap and she was playing with a bear that Grandma Kimble gave her.  She saw me and announced, "This bear is Radar!"  Radar is the name of Big Bird's bear.  She then referred to him as "Radar" for the rest of the afternoon.

She may be all Two, but she is pretty cute about it.

Dragging Her Into A Rut

For breakfast, we like things quick and simple. Instant oatmeal, yogurt, toast, cereal or a bagel are all the typical choices around this house. For more elaborate breakfast meals, we wait until dinner. We often have pancakes and sausage or scrambled eggs and hash browns or biscuits and gravy for dinner. I have more time to make it at that time of day, and it works for us. Especially on Saturdays or Sundays.

Last Sunday we had blueberry muffins for dinner. A nice lighter meal. Yummy in the tummy. Later in the week, Alaina was having yogurt for breakfast. When I give her yogurt, I always offer her either toast ("like Grandad likes it"...with grape jelly) or dry Cheerios. She wasn't too interested in either of those options, so I had a flash of brilliance. We had a couple of leftover muffins, so I gave it to her with her yogurt. I thought it was a fun treat; let's face it, muffins are really just cake disguised as breakfast.

Well, she refused to eat it. She kept saying "I eat breakfast." Because she's never had a muffin at breakfast, only for dinner. She thought I was trying to get her to eat a dinner food. She asked for toast "like Grandad likes it" instead.

I know I get in a rut in how I do things. Most of the time I like it there. Apparently, though, I've dragged her down with me, to the point where muffins are now dinner food and cannot be served for breakfast.

Next lesson: how to teach your child how to think outside the box. Since I often have a problem with this one, I'm not sure how to teach it to her.

A Girl and Her Tutu

Thanks to Grandma Kimble, Alaina has her first tutu. Of course she loves it. You don't have to teach little girls how to love tutus. I see hours of dress-up in her future.

What She Does When She Wakes Up

She still doesn't know she could get out of bed if she wanted to. And if any of you tell her, I'll cut off your thumbs and shove them up your nose.

My Little Artist

That, my friends, is a crayon drawing on the window. I always wondered when that would happen. I try to be careful and not let her use crayons when she is not getting 100% supervision, but she found a crayon that had somehow escaped the latest clean-up. I was making dinner, and Lee asked me if I had noticed her little work of art. I hadn't. We told her it was a No-No-No...a phrase that always lets her know when something is not good. She sobbed as if we broke her little heart.
It was bound to happen. It was only a matter of time.
